Heard of jerky, but never tried it. Now's your chance. Come along to the Highland Food Market and taste it and form your own opinion! We take a variety of flavours to each market. If there is a specific flavour you'd like to try, drop us an email and we'll make sure we take it along to this market.
We produce all our jerky in Nairn - from prime Scotch beef and in wild Highland venison.
As with all our jerky - you have to chew a little (about 6-10 seconds) to get the 'payback' which is the great taste of beef or venison with the addition of our marinade.
Our beef jerky comes in
- Original: just the great taste of beef
- Cracked Black Pepper: as above but with a little 'hit' when you crunch a peppercorn.
- Hot Chilli: this one starts fairly mildly and grows as you eat your way through the bag. Not so hot as to over power the beef flavour.
- Smoky: chew and get the taste of beef, then just as you think the flavour's gone, you taste the smokiness
- Mild Mustard: this is fairly mild mustard flavour
- Curry flavour: Curried beef is one of my favourites. So it was natural to want to add this to our range. There is a little heat, but the emphasis is more on the curry falvour which includes coriander, chilli and cumin.
Our venison jerky comes in
- Original: chew a little for the gamy taste of venison. You'll taste it different to the beef
- Cracked Black Pepper: as with Original but with the added 'hit' when you crunch a peppercorn.
- Hot Chilli: this one starts fairly mildly and grows as you eat your way through the bag. Not so hot as the beef. Don't want to over power the venison flavour.
- Smoky: chew and get the taste of venison mingling with the smokiness. This is a great combination. You may not know if you're tasting gaminess, or smokiness. Very tasty though.
So come along and give your taste buds the jerky test. And take some home to chew in front of the telly at night.
